Materials:
  • Double faced iron-on fusion OR glue gun
  • Cardstock for patterns
  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Iron
  • Wool felt in various colors
  • Polyester fiber filling
  • Various color thread
  • Pencil & Eraser
  • Fabric Pencil
  • Sewing Machine

  • Optional Tools
    & Accents:

  • Pinking Shears
  • Exacto Knife   (cleaner cut)
  • Fabric Paint
  • Buttons
  • Beads
  • Fragrance Oil
  • Cotton Balls
  • Ribbon or Lace
  • Embrodery Thread

  • Steps:
  • 1. Pick a pattern/design to construct along with a "background" or bottom piece used to attach pieces to.
  • 2. Draw your patterns onto cardstock and cut with scissors or exacto knife.
*If you are not an artist, use coloring book pages for patterns and glue onto cardstock and cut out.
  • 3. Using a fabric pencil, trace patterns onto felt backwards. Cut felt and arrange.   *If you are using fusion to construct, iron fusion to felt. Do not remove backing. Trace the patterns using a pencil onto the fusion backing, then cut felt and arrange.
  • 4. Once felt is arranged, attach pieces to background piece using desired technique.
  • 5. Sew flat accents onto project front at this time. *Accents for your project below.
  • 6. Finish construction by placing right sides together and attaching sides, leaving one side open for stuffing.
  • 7. Stuff and close remaining side.

  • Hints:
  • Use pinking shears for edge accents.   *I recommend Fiskars scissors.
  • Use fabric paint, buttons and beads for accents.
  • Use various simple sewing lines and threads to make subtle or BOLD accents.   *Use Monofilament thread for a subtle accent.

  • Substitute construction paper for felt & make paper plate masks or paper bag puppets!
  • Add perfumed oil to cotton balls for sachets.
